Poplight Shark Tank Update: How Our Wireless Wall Sconce Sold Out and Went Viral After Shark Tank

Poplight, the renter friendly wall light designed by wife and wife duo Caroline and Rose Matthes, received competing offers from Barbara Corcoran and Kevin O'Leary before the founders shook hands on a deal with O'Leary. From viral social media moments to booming sales and new collaborations, here’s a full update on what Poplight has been up to since Shark Tank.
Selling Out of Poplights and Growing Customer Community
Appearing on Shark Tank was a dream come true, but the real excitement began after the episode aired. Almost immediately, we saw an unprecedented surge in demand for Poplight.
With its easy installation (thanks to 3M tape) and renter friendly design, Poplight struck a chord with homeowners, renters, and interior designers alike. In fact, our first production run sold out! We had to work quickly to ramp up production to keep up with orders flying in from across the country.
What we didn’t expect was just how much momentum we’d gain from word-of-mouth. Customers who purchased Poplight not only loved loved it but started sharing their cute, new renter friendly lighting with their friends. We've also loved every single post from our customers showing Poplights in their spaces!
The word of mouth community inspired Rose and Caroline to set up an affiliate program, so Popstars (ahem, anyone with a Poplight) can get 10% commission from every friend they refer! Just a way to make sharing your Poplights even better!
Going Viral: The Social Media Explosion
We love our Instagram and Tiktok communities, and we were so excited about all the momentum we got on those platforms through our appearance on Shark Tank!
Social media became a hotbed for viral videos showing Poplight in action. Influencers and everyday users alike began posting creative content showing off the Poplight's easy install and cute addition to their spaces.
The social media love continues to grow, and we’re seeing more and more people tag us in their posts, sharing their excitement about *finally* a renter friendly wall light that's easy to install and matches their style.
Collaborating with Creators and Designers
In addition to user-generated content, Poplight has also collaborated with some creators we LOVE in the home decor space. We’ve partnered with influencers and designers who love renter friendly upgrades, showcasing how Poplight can elevate any room. From small apartments to full house flips, these creators have shown the endless possibilities of how our product can fit seamlessly into various interiors.
We’re also so excited to partner with Youtube creators we love that feature Poplight in their home makeover projects. These home decor all stars are using Poplights to give bedrooms, living rooms, and home offices a modern upgrade. These collaborations have expanded the Poplight community even further, tapping into niche audiences who appreciate both the functionality and elegance of Poplight.

Growing the Poplight Team to Keep Up with Demand
Behind the scenes, we’ve been expanding our team to keep up with Poplight’s rapid growth. Before Shark Tank, Poplight was just Rose and Caroline handling every aspect of the business. Now, we have a customer support team, logistics help, the funnest people ever writing our emails, and a warehouse team!
We’ve also expanded our production capabilities to ensure that Poplight remains in stock!
And, even more exciting, we've been able to introduce a new color to the Poplight family and are working on new Poplight designs!
